Activities for Seniors

The Eganville & District Seniors have a wide variety of enjoyable activities for seniors. Nothing feels better than getting involved in the activities in your community. By getting involved, you get great exercise, fresh air, fun times, and a place to gather, have a few laughs and make new friends.

How Are These Programs Run?

The Activity programs are partially funded by the Ministry of Health, and in order to permit everyone tøo participate, fees are kept to a minimum.  These programs are organized and run by volunteers and financed through, fundraising events and generous donations from our supporters.

Who Can Attend Activity Programs?

Activity Programs are open to anyone who is retired, is a senior, or would just like to join in for some fun.  Membership is required, there is a nominal membership fee.


Wii Bowling –

Join us for lots of fun playing Wii bowling at the Seniors Centre at 30 Bell Street in Eganville.  Held every Wednesday at 10:00 am.

Bridge –

Thursday Afternoon Bridge Group is held at the Seniors' Centre. starting at 1:00 p.m.  This activity is only scheduled during the winter months.

Monday evening bridge group is held at 7:00 pm in the summer months.  Please call us for time and date details.

Crafts –

Craft workshops are scheduled from September through to June.

Euchre – (2 groups)

Tuesday afternoon Euchre is held at the Seniors' Centre at 1:30 every week, and is held year round.  Cost is only $2.00 per person. No need to bring a partner we change partners every week.

Friday Euchre is held the last Friday of each month at 1:00 pm.  This is a fundraising event so the Cost is $3.00 per person.

Golf –

Held only during the summer months at the Indian River Golf Course in Pembroke.  Every Thursday at 9:00 am sharp.

Painting –

Scheduled throughout the months of September to June.  Usually held Mondays from 11 am to 3pm.  Bring your lunch.  The instructor is Adrian Saba. A fee is paid to the instructor.

Zumba –

Zumba is an energetic combination of dance and aerobics with great hip hop, samba and salsa music. Classes are held every Wednesday evening.

Zumba Gold – held from 5:30 – 6:30, is suitable for the active older participant
Zumba Basic – an advanced class is held 5:30 – 6:30
Chair Zumba – watch for this new Zumba class coming soon.

Singing –

Held every Monday morning at the Seniors' Centre throughout the months of September to June.  The singing group also travels to Senior homes and residences to entertain.

Tai Chi –

Tai Chi is a gentle but effective way to exercise all the joints and muscles in the body, enabling people to feel better and more energetic.

Tuesday mornings at 10:15 a.m. at the Seniors' Centre, September through June.  A more relaxed group. There is a nominal fee once a month donated to the Seniors' Centre.

Walking –

The Indoors walking group is scheduled in the late fall to early spring.  Check our monthly schedule of events for start date.

Educational Workshops –

Interesting and Educational guest speakers often give workshops at the Seniors' Centre.  Check the schedule of events for listings.

Bus Trips

A variety of interesting and entertaining Bus trips are planned throughout the year.   Check the Schedule of Events to see what is coming up next.

Exercise Classes

Great exercise classes tailored to accommodate all levels of fitness.  These workouts are designed by the Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging at Western University.

High Mobility Exercise class – a 60 minute workout held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 10 am.  Each participant will work on muscle and joint movement, cardio, balance, strength and flexibility.

Computer Classes

A beginners Computer class or workshops on technology and related subjects, are scheduled regularly throughout the year.  Please call the Seniors' Centre to get your name on the waiting list for the next class.   A volunteer instructor teaches seniors computer basics or a variety of crelated topics at their own pace.

Computer Club

Computer club meets at this time every Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. from September to June. Beginners and computer enthusiasts get together to share their computer knowledge and explore new aspects of their computers.  There is no fee for this group.

Shuffleboard – Floor & Table shuffleboard available

Floor Shuffleboard, held Monday mornings at 9:00 a.m. and again at 1:00 p.m. at the Eganville branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.   

Table Shuffleboard is a drop in activity.  Time is set aside every Monday and Thursday from 3-4 pm for this activity.

Floor Curling – Coming Soon

Similar to regular curling, this activity is done safely on the floor at the seniors centre.  Please check the schedule for when this activity will be held.

Yoga –

A beginner group that get together Friday mornings at 10:0 a.m. to learn yoga.  They are currently using a Yoga video and will graduate to more challenging videos as they learn.  There is a nominal fee to participate.  Please call the Seniors Centre for more information.
